Who has a Twin Bed?

Well, I guess you do if your reading this – or you are about to but not sure what to look at before you buy.

But do you know there is more to this Twin Mattress Width Code thing that you could possibly have imagined, it might even make your head spin.

But we’re not only going to look at the width of a bed, were going to look at all dimensions of the twin size bed.

And here lies the code were going to crack.

What Are The Dimensions Of A Twin Size Mattress:

Some say that the Twin Mattress Dimensions are approximately 38 inches wide by 75 inches long.

Now at approximately 75 inches long, you would be right to just go ahead with your measurements in your bedroom right, yet, both twin and full mattresses may be too short for some adults.

If you’re a long and lanky sort of person, the comfort zone of just trusting the average measurements for a twin mattress would be just fine.

But with people getting taller these days, and if you’re one of them.

You need to look a little more into your choice of a twin mattress and have a look at the different measurements that we are going to get down and dirty with right now with this twin mattress width code thing…

Can A Twin Mattress Fit In A Car?

Oh, and one of the obvious things, before we venture further, is the question above.

If you have a small mattress it might fit in the trunk with if you have the seats folded down in your car…

However, if it doesn’t fit in your car (if you’re thinking of anything bigger than a standard twin mattress by the way) don’t go thinking you can transport it by tying it to the roof of your car, especially if you’re travelling on a long road trip home.

Not only are you going to look like an extract of a comedy movie, you most probably going to encounter problems.

And one could be a very big wind coming your way.

We don’t want to get into details here.

I’ll let your imagination take care of that one.

Mattress Bed Twin Size Dimensions

Sizes Dimensions (in) Dimensions (cm)
Twin 39” X 75” 96.5cm X 190.5cm
Twin XL 39” X 80” 96.5cm X 203.5cm

Standard bed sizes are based on standard mattress sizes, which vary from country to country.

That’s right – I said it would get you in a bit of a head spin.

Depending on where you are things have to get complicated when no country likes to follow the other and goes about their own way confusing the customer with their different mattress dimensions.

Just like electric plugs – different in different countries.

Were not going to get darn right boring and go through all the different measurements when it comes to the twin mattress.

But I feel we do need to touch on it a bit so that where ever you are reading this from in the world, you have an idea of what to look for.

So let’s get to the major size charts for the double mattress, shall we…

Though in the last few years things seemed to have even a little most probably due to continental European standards in international trade.

Did you guess it!

It is supposed to be one of a matching pair of single beds you could say.

That’s why you get the term “twin”.

They are generally used in a room that is shared by two people, in a hotel, or those guest rooms that are shared by more than one person.

And yes there are still people out here married who prefer to be in twin beds for different reasons like they might not like each other.

Is A Twin Bed The Same As A Single Bed?

You may well ask and I am sure the question comes up a bit.

And it’s not a silly question considering that the twin bed and the single bed are really the same sizes.

Well, it all comes down to this: Why the same size but not the same name. The answer is rather simple, really, (tongue in cheek) but you wouldn’t.

The world likes to complicate things – when doesn’t it…

In America, they call a single bed a “Twin Bed” and in England, they call it a “Single Bed”.

It just comes down to the terminology and what part of the world you may reside in at the time. That simple but not really.

Why all the confusion….

You got me!

Hey, I didn’t say I knew it all you know…

Are Two Twin Beds Equal What Size Bed?

Glad you asked, I bet you have been hanging out to know this one haven’t you…

When you drag two twin beds together with some exasperation, they are equal to a while king size bed.

So if you want to frolic around and generally stretch yourself out when there are no visitors staying and occupying them.

You could stretch out as far as you want or tumble around in you’re makeshift king size bed.

Just don’t get too carried away because you can still roll off a King Size Bed you know. Really, I wouldn’t know about that personally though…

Oh,’ you can also use this little bit of information to dazzle your audience…
